Trip date: July 9, 2017 There’s something special about exploring new places. Rather than keeping a steady rhythm, it forces you to change your pace, position, and expectations. This has to be good for the soul. We’re new to the Eastgate area and haven’t spent much time east of Manning Park. A few of us decided to check out Flat Top Mountain during wildflower season. The trip was on our radar, and moved up in priority due to recent condition updates. There are a few ways to approach…

Trip Date: July 16, 2016 The Heather Trail to Three Brothers is easy and open terrain; including a rocky summit, subalpine meadows & gorgeous wild flowers, and views that extend a ways into the Cascade Range… apparently. We were hiking in a cloud all day and didn’t see the extended views. Ryan’s been looking to show off Manning Park’s wild flowers for a few seasons now and this was the weekend to do it. The forecasted weather was ~17 degrees, a bit of rain in the morning, and…

The above photo is of a sunrise taken along Seymour Road, located in the Mt. Seymour Provincial Park, BC. This moment is symbolic of the new year ahead; new goals, new ambitions, and a new start. Well, it’s that time of year again, where I spend a some time to reflect on the past 12 months. It’ll take way too long to summarize the year, a lot has happened! With the help of friends and family, I’ve started building my brand as ‘Adventures of a T1D‘ and designed…

October 4, 2015 A small group of us decided to check out the golden larches in Manning Park last weekend and went for the summit of Frosty Mountain. It was my first time exploring the golden larches in the Fall and I was pretty surprised to see dozens and dozens of people in the meadows and at the top. The views were well worth the crowds of people. You have the option of starting and/or ending at either Lightning Lakes or Windy Joe via the Similkameen trail. From…

…but, be sure to check current conditions before heading up to Manning Park. We lucked out with a well-packed trail made by a group of 8+ snowshoers who headed up in the morning, just before us. We spend the majority of our time planning, scheduling and anticipating the upcoming week, month, year. We’re tied to our phones, emails, and daily correspondence from our work and personal lives. It’s kinda nice when we can take a break from all the planning and foreshadowing, drive away from the concrete jungle and into a…

A few weeks ago, I went on a solo hike up the east summit of Frosty Mountain in Manning Park. This was my first hike within the park; the views were well worth the drive and I’ll definitely be back. I parked at the Lightning Lakes day lot and I was on the trail a little before 10:00am. I hiked ~23km and gained ~1250m over 7 hours and 20 mins, including short breaks on the way up and an hour long break at the top. I didn’t see…
